Gender Roles in Fic

Hey there!

I was wondering if you all could help me find some good stories that deal with gender roles. Now I'm not talking someone just dressing in drag and then it's a pwp.

A good example of what I'm looking for is Helenish's "Take Clothes Off As Directed" I LOVE this story.

I would love to read some slash, more specifically McShep that deals with unique gender roles or how everyone interacts differently.

(Notes/P.S. I have also read Xanthe's story and although the BDSM is good, I'm really just looking for interesting gender issue types of stories. Thanks!)

It's about prioritization, and about learning to live with the choices you've made. It's a story about John Sheppard, and the society he chooses to live in.

Although that makes it sound a lot angstier than it is.

Okay, so first of all there's the genderbender tag (http://delicious.com/Kirinin/genderbender%20) on my del.icio.us account; there are around 20 fics there as of now.

But off the top of my head? How has no-one yet mentioned
Ardhanarishvara (http://www.eternalvox.net/~auburn/Ardhanarishvara_1-12.html)? It may be the best piece of gender-related fiction I've read, in or out of the fandom. Several of the main characters change gender as the result of a confused cultural exchange, which may seem like a rather cliched beginning; but the subject is addressed with thoughtfulness and panache. It's a monster, so if you want to read, get ready to settle in for the long haul. Worth it, though.

Then there's Girlfriend (http://trickster.org/res/girlfriend.html), in which Rodney changes gender by necessity (and temporarily!), then becomes baffled by Sheppard's altered attitude towards him.
