Quick question: SGA is the fandom that subscribes to the school of Anything Goes. So, did any of the following ever crop up in a fanfic?
1) AR stories--maybe even a bit dimensional crossover à la Rod in "McKay and Mrs Miller"--where Sumner is well and alive and still the military leader in Atlantis? How everything would have gone in such a case? Maybe better, maybe the same, maybe worse? Maybe even a story where he isn't an a**, but a good commander?
2) Any stories where it turns out that Rodney really was right with that Duranda thing? That the calculations really *were* right, that the only reason he even failed is because one or more Ancients intervened for whatever reason and that gets found out? That would be an interesting vindication twist.
3) Remember the beginning of the episode Pegasus Project? The way SG1 treated Rodney? And how Sam's response to Vala saying they needed Rodney was, "We weren't going to tell him that!"? And how Rodney really played into their annoying little game? Any stories where he doesn't do that? Maybe where he doesn't take the bait, just stays silent and really makes them ask nicely and with respect--the way they would have if they had needed the help of anyone not Rodney? (That was not a great moment for SG1.) Or where Elizabeth/John/anyone takes them to task over it? Anything really, where that little opening scene plays out in a way that isn't embarrassing/humiliating for Rodney? Or at least paints SG1 in a nicer light?
4) A lot of fanfics emphasise the importance of Rodney to the expedition, yet some have him resigning for whatever reason and handing over his duties to Zelenka. So, the question is: Any stories where Zelenka or whoever takes over for Rodney really can't handle the stress of doing Rodney's job and it shows dramatically? Not that I believe Zelenka incapable of it, but it would sure would make an interesting plot.
I realise these are a bit long shot, but it can't hurt to ask, right? Nothing is impossible for this fandom, after all. And I really don't care if it's gen/slash/het or anything.
