Does anyone know of any stories where Rodney doesn't get to continue his education? Theres no money and no scholarships? so he doesn't go to college and teaches himself? Or something similar.

ATA gene gone amuck

I'm looking for any fics where John's gene stops working, or causes problems for him. It shouldn't happen to everyone with the ATA gene, just John (although there can be a mention that it may happen to others later), but basically Sheppard should be the center of a lot of angst because of it.

I've already looked at crossroads and in the archives, but there doesn't seem to be a tag referencing this issue specifically.

This is kind of an odd request, but are there any stories out there where it's essentially the canon universe--except that the Earth the Atlanteans left behind is vitally different in some way. Something like DADT, Damyata, Dayadhvam, where the government is much more extreme in their control of homosexuals in the military or working for the military, or Aegis, where people with the gene also have special "Gifts", powers. Basically I'm looking for Earths where it's either a dystopia or "fantastic" in some way.

Also, are there any fics at all with Ronon's wife (or whatever she technically was) Melena? AUs, pre-show, even some farfetched "She's magically alive!" sort of thing. Ronon/Melena preferred, obviously, but if there are any fics with her at all I'd be interested in seeing them.
