Taking one for Sheppard/The Team

I'm looking for stories of Rodney taking one for Sheppard or the Team or for anyone else on or not on Atlantis for that matter. It can be something like, say, stepping in front of something to protect them from a blow or something darker (sexual abuse, even, *gah* I'm mentally disturbed *facepalms in shame*), or maybe staying behind to save everyone else, or volunteering himself for an unfriendly ritual.

Damage can be short term or maybe even long term (say... Rodney ends up MIA or assumed KIA or something or needs physio). If it's one of those back from the dead, holy crap, Rodney's alive! fics, even better. I think I have an affinity for hurt!Rodney... which is just... sick of me, but I'll indulge in some quasi-sadism...

It would be best if Rodney ended up alive, but I suppose a bit of death fic is good for the soul once in a while. Slash preferably but gen is great, too. I'm kind of looking for a smart Rodney, not like, oh-no-whatever-will-I-do Rodney though not a GI/Mensa Rodney either. Maybe even resemblant of the aged Rodney from Last Man personality wise? Kind of cynical, no longer an ignorance is bliss Rodney? Sorry, I'm just being demanding now...
