Longing, denial, abstention, resolution (McShep)

I stayed up too late than I probably should have last night re-reading Coping Mechanisms by amireal (amific), and it occurred to me that I haven't read very many stories where John and Rodney recognize their attraction to each other and try to deny it, to no avail. It can either be openly acknowledged between them or assumed, but what I'm most looking for are stories that feature the sort of 'we can't, but GOD we want to' theme that I've seen (and enjoyed) in Jack/Daniel stories.

Another example of this Amber Light by lantean_drift.

Ps. I'd take Joe/David of this genre, as well though I think I've read every story out there of that pairing.

ETA: A Taste Of... by stealmyhorses was just posted over at mcsheplets, whose challenge for the week is/was 'Abstain' (thanks for reminding me! And how did I not notice you were the same person both times?! I'm slipping).

I like the genre your asking for and I'm wondering what the 'Warnings' are for "Amber Light," since there isn't any listed for it at the stories site or by the author itself(Shameful)..There isn't any non-con, is there??

I'm just not into it, at all; but would very much like to read it since it sounds pretty good..

I'm a little baffled by your asking what they are since there are none listed? Usually that means there aren't any. but if you're worried, here is another link (http://lantean-drift.livejournal.com/12219.html) that also lists no warnings :)

I wouldn't want non-con in the genre that I'm looking for anyway! Though, I guess I can understand wanting to be absolutely certain if that's something you're really squicked of...

I asked becuz I've come across stories or authors who put up warnings but when I actually read the thing, POPS goes the weasl becuz there's all this shit(rape) and I'm like "WTF"..I hate when authors do that...Some, not all, but some either don't put up enough warnings or just don't bother and the story is full of violence...

Ahh. Well, I'm sorry that happened to you! As far as I know, most of the authors I read try pretty hard to warn for the big stuff. There's a bit of violence in Amber Light, but not enough to warrant a warning, so you should be okay!

hm. The only thing that comes to mind for this is DADT, Damyata, Dayadhvam (http://trinityofone.unrealwords.com/dadt.html) by trinityofone (AU fic, kind of a dark universe but not really heavy angst I think). Or, similarly, A Song of Companionship (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=12029) by mmmchelle (long, definitely adult, much less with the angst).

Both of those are stories in which DADT keeps them from having a conventional sort of relationship, but they do their best to work around the rules. Also, they're both really fantastic, if you haven't already read them. this is a fun request, though! I hope someone else has more suggestions.
