I am going on a long trip tomorrow and I wanted to put some fanfic on my laptop to read. So I am trying to find SGA fics that the author offers in E-book form. I've seen authors do that before in other fandoms with their long completed fics and I'm hopeful I am just missing where they are for SGA fandom.

Will take anything, but I have a particular fondness for McKay/Sheppard.

I don't know about specific authors, but [livejournal.com profile] amothea has started and ebook archive (http://amalthia.mediawood.net/ebooks/index.php). Lots of fandoms, including 20-some SGA stories.

Hope that helps!

A lot of authors have pdfs of their big fics available - try Farm in Iowa here http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/105567.html (scroll down the page for the pdf download link for the entire fic) and lamardeuse http://lamardeuse.dreamhost.com/sg/index.html (try the Road to Nevada pdf, but its all good). Both McShep.

Also just do a "print to pdf" from your browser & its easy to save web stuff with all the original formatting to read offline on your laptop in Acrobat. I saved all the sgabigbang fics to read offline that way from here http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net - also all mcshep & each one 50k plus.

Lots for your trip!

How do I do "print to pdf"? Which browser should I use? I usually just save it in html format.

I'm a mac user, so this works for me, (& should work for a pc), but in any browser (IE, safari, whatever) ask the page to print & you should get a print options box come up. Don't hit okay to start the printer, in the left bottom corner is a box that says "pdf" - it has a pull down that you select called "print to pdf" that then asks you where to save the pdf on your laptop, just select the location you want & then hit okay.

I do the html thing too, but if you've got something with illustrations or particular formating you risk losing the pictures in certain browsers. Saving as a pdf keeps all the nice images etc to read offline & also if you do have a ebook reader, pdfs usually transfer over more easily than html files (they load on my visor handheld, html files don't).

Hope that helps ;D

Actually, there's no 'print to PDF' in the old IE; I know I had to install Acrobat (which only turned out to be 1gig big with all the works *growls*) when I wanted to convert a .doc file to .pdf. Once I installed Acrobat, though, it had put a button on the IE's top bar (beside 'print', 'edit...', etc) that had the option of converting .html straight to .pdf.

After I finally got rid of that monster as I had no use for it, I found that using any of the free online .pdf converters was a much preferable choice. Not like you can actually do any real *editing* with the Acrobat .pdf editor, anyway. *kicks at air*

So. Have PC, use an online converter - be happy. That's the conclusion of this tale. :-)

Thank you. But my adobe don't have that feature, but I find a software that do the same thing.

Here's the link to sheafrotherdon's Iowa universe in pdf: http://www.transientjoy.com/LJ01/SGA/Iowa/FarmInIowa.pdf
it's over 300 pages, so it should occupy you a while. (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/105567.html is the list)
Or if that's not your style, you could just save one of the sga bigbang stories to your drive: http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fiction
I recommend "Theory of Evolution", "Cage for Gods" and "In the Silent Water" especially.
