Amnesia Rodney

Hey all,

I tried to check Crossroads before coming here, but Crossroads is gone!  Where??? What??? Somebody have some info???

I would like to read some fic (slash preferred Rodney/John) where Rodney has amnesia, preferrably cured by the end of the story.

Also, if you check out this comm's links tab (on the right on the comm's main page) you'll see a brand new link that leads towards a compilation of list links; checking there for alternative resources while Crossroads is down is recommended (I never really used it anyway; del.icio.us is much better).

For example, ultimateficarchiver has an amnesiac!Rodney tag (http://del.icio.us/ultimateficarchiver/amnesia-rodney), and they're all McShep, too. From there, the one that I can wholeheartedly rec (and am sure needs an updated link) is 01100100's You Don't Have to Be Crazy to Work Here, But It Helps (http://01100100.fanfib.org/fanfiction/sga/crazy.html); the amnesia is just one aspect of the crazy life in the Pegasus galaxy. :-)

I have a particular fondness for amnesia stories, so I think I can scrape a few together.

http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/159098.html is where you will find 'A Royal Deception' by Mandragora. Rodney is picked to be the ruler of a foreign planet, based on his intellect alone. This makes him forget who he is. Of course, John goes after him. In harem pants.

Here (http://thingswithwings.livejournal.com/17065.html) is 'Broaden into Boundless Day'. Very poignant, excellent fic, a bit shorter than the first.

In 'Forget Me Not', here, http://maisierita.livejournal.com/14509.html, both John and Rodney are incorporated into a penal colony that has levels of priviledge like castes that can be lost or earned. John is presented to Rodney as a servant. Dark, and not so kinky as it sounds. This one is also satisfyingly long.

'Second Fiddle' by Madison, isn't quite an amnesia!Rodney fic, but it has the same flavor: AU-Rodney meets Atlantis-John. Rodney works (poorly) at a university, and is saved from a mugging by John. He slowly learns about his canon-self, and inexorably moves closer to being the same man. You can find it here: http://www.area52hkh.net/asm/madison/secondfi.php.

In 'Scheherazade', the Esotherans want Rodney's memories for posterity, and they don't take no for an answer. They perform the memory extraction incorrectly, leaving McKay floundering through all the memories that ever meant anything to him: http://in-wintertime.livejournal.com/3985.html.

In 'I Hear and Forget', there is an alien takeover, but for some reason John and Samantha aren't affected. This isn't as much in their favor as you'd think. Harrowing, shiver-inducing, and near-perfect in execution. Again, not QUITE an amnesia!Rodney fic, but it certainly appears that way for much of the story. http://seperis.livejournal.com/536445.html

'All These Places we Have Met' (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/565739.html) is stunning, and one of my favorites. Rodney slips through parallel worlds, but each new universe re-sets Rodney's memories and sense of self, and the universes grow darker as he goes. And where he goes, John follows.
