Rodney/John, appreciated Rodney
Dec. 27th, 2007 03:44 pmOkay, so I recently read
sardonicsmiley's SGA fics, and she has sucked me into the world of McShep. So, I have two requests:
1. any stories like Promises writ in indelible ink that features Rodney being marked by the SGA crew (to never lose him and show how important he is to them)
2. any Rodney/John fics out there that should be read
thanks in advance!
ETA Great Recs Inside and Thanks to Everyone! Any more recs are welcomed

Date: 2007-12-27 10:00 pm (UTC)As for "must read" - it depends on what you are after? AU? Canon? Canon AU? There are so many subcatagories that it's sometimes hard to keep track of them all.
For AU I'd recommend
Both these universes have some parts written by guest authors, but it all flows together beautifully.
Another idea for where to find long and plotty McShep would be to check out the SGA Big Bang (”http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fiction”) entries. Not one story under 40 000 words.
That should have you busy for a while *G*

Date: 2007-12-27 10:19 pm (UTC)I don't think I know any marking stories off the top of my head.
I have been collecting a few rec pages, I hope it's OK to pass them on here:
Recs from sesperis (http://seperis.illuminatedtext.com/recs.html)
More recs from sesperis, for the newbie fan (http://seperis.livejournal.com/533226.html)
Recs from Kormantic and others (http://kormantic.livejournal.com/182454.html)
And just a few recs from me! (http://sasha-feather.livejournal.com/145619.html)
Happy reading!

Date: 2007-12-27 11:49 pm (UTC)a handy place to find a list of popular fics would be mckay/sheppard awards - 2007 nominees (http://www.mcshepawards.com/page.php?24)
and, in case you have a few weeks to spare, here's a link to my favourites page on wraithbait (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewuser.php?action=favst&uid=1683) - i'll warn you now though, my taste is eclectic so do read the warnings if you have things you like to avoid!
EDIT: sorry about that! took me a couple of goes to get the links right!

Freedom literally breaks me (in wonderful, fantastic ways) every time I read it. There are no words that will adequately describe the awesomeness of this story, so I'm just going to tell you to go and read it.

Date: 2007-12-28 06:49 am (UTC)definitely check out the stories at the mcshep awards (linked earlier), not just the winners but the nominees as well because they are all very good and gave a real pleasure re-reading them.
and as for authors may i recommend (in addition to those mentioned earlier)
Hope that helps :D Happy reading!
ETA: and of course, since it has not been rec'd before and it really, definitely needs to be read Written by Victors by Speranza (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Victors.html#index). This actually won best story at the mcshep awards, with good reason. its completely gleeful to read but if you do, definitely set aside some time because it is a long, though completely satisfying, read. Enjoy!
