Hi!

Question:

There are fics that have a plot premise that is interesting, even absolutely fascinating, if for no other reason because that very premise either has the potential to fundamentally change the rest of canon from that point on, or because it invariably *must* force such a change. Some of those fics end before the further consequences to canon even enter into the equation, leaving it to the reader's imagination. Others have authors who simply force their story to fit into canon at all costs--which sometimes backfires, because it either turns the characters OOC or the plot premise loses its shine, the something that made it fascinating.

I know I'm not explaining this well, but, you know what I mean? The best example I can come up with right now is... "Theory of Evolution", I think, where the fact that John didn't change back completely post-"Conversion" changed quite a few things around.

I'm quite sure there are quite a few other fics that tackle that difficult job and do it well in the fandom, but I can't remember any right now.

Can anyone come up with a few? Pairing and genre are unimportant, though I do have a weakness for McShep and dark gen stories.

Thanks in advance. :)
