I have a friend in need who asked me for --

"a good story where Shep and McKay slept together back when McKay was blond and skinny and ultrahot-in-a-different-way, and then when they remeet on Atlantis, McKay recognizes Shep but Shep doesn't recognize McKay, and... angst. then happy ending. :D"

I thought perhaps you guys would know where to find something like that? You'd be helping to alleviate deathly cramps, so, it's really for a good deed! *g* Thank you.

Well, I know at least one fic that almost exactly that, except eventually they do clue in on who the other person is, so there's not that much angst there... Shoot, I just saw it among the Harlequin fics, hang on...

A-ha! Second Chances (http://z-rayne.livejournal.com/113641.html) by z_rayne, McShep, NC-17. I'm not sure if this version has all the cool pics of young!Rodney and young!John; if not, be sure to hunt down the version on the author's website for them.

(I'm not sure if there's a corresponding category at Crossroads, as it's on the fritz at the moment -again-, but if you take away the Rodney angst part, there should be a few more fics out there with this premise. Um. Maybe?)

Thank you! I was just re-reading this (looking throughout the other tags in this comm) and my friend read it, too, but the boys clear the air a little *too* quickly in that.. It's possible there is no story like that yet though!

Another one similar to the theme; this time the angst (underage smex! *shock!gasp*) content is higher: Do I Know You From a Frat Mixer, or Another Galaxy (http://www.caffiends.net/viewstory.php?sid=413&PHPSESSID=09c47b663b1f5040d785c201c68ddfd4) by Kat Reitz and Tzigane.

Also, I suspect you may be right, but then, this *is* a genre finding comm, so I think trying to provide as similarly themed fics as possible is kinda the point. ^.^

Second Time (http://lamardeuse.dreamhost.com/sg/secondtime.html) by lamadreuse is the fabulous story where John and Rondey meet at a pary as teenagers.

What It Gives (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=7801&warning=12) by mmmchelle is the one where they hook up at a gay bar right before John ships out. It's about fifty kinds of awesome, but it doesn't include the not-recognizing you asked for.

Second Chances (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=3240) by z_rayne is the one where the boys meet on an airplane before college.

Oopa! I got beat on the Zoe Rayne story. There's also Where We've Been Before (http://helens78.livejournal.com/330932.html#cutid1) by helens78, which is the one where John and Rodney meet in a bar six years before Atlantis. It's hot, but it doesn't have a real resolution on the recognition/happy ending front.
