Rodney-centric

I know this has in some ways been asked many, many times, but I've never quite found what I was looking for the majority of the time.  What I'm looking for, basically, is a Rodney-centered fic that is fairly long (12,000 words or more), very well written in reference to the characters' portrayal, and not really based largely on humor.  I'd like something serious, though I don't mind the odd bit of humor and happiness...just not an entire story based on humor and squishies (if that makes sense?).  Happy endings, though, are a must for me.  Bottom Rodney is a fav of mine, but if he swaps out sometimes that's okay, too.  McShep, McBeckett, McDex, are all good for me, though McShep is my fav.  As to everything else, angst, h/c, kink, smarm, etc. I like it all.  Basically, to round it up, I just want some really good Rodney-centric fic in a slashy pairing that is serious, long, thought out, well written, and not totally bashing on Rodney all the way to the end...well.  Bashing in the hurt/comfort sense is good, but if the story puts Rodney in a bad light all the way to the end and never changes the opinion...I don't really want those.  Does this make sense?  Ehehe...I hope you guys can help.  I appreciate you tryin' even if you can't.

P.S.  Another thing.  Fics written in Rodney's POV I don't mind, but I really like it when Rodney's seen from other POV, also.

julad's wonderful Secret Life of Scientists (http://www.yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000082.html) and Absurdity Theory (http://www.yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000083.html) are two different stories told from Rodney's POV, concentrating on him and the wacky life in the Pegasus Galaxy (circa season 1); both are Rodney/Radek, fairly long, and excellently written. Might not be exactly what you're after, but definitely worth reading.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I know my request was kinda vague and long winded. Its just that I've only really been looking at Rodney fic for a month now, and I either find more Sheppard-centric stuff in character or Rodney-centric stuff that's not in character or very short. All your help is very appreciated. Thank you so much!

Always happy to help with a rec or two *grin* a fellow Rodney fan. I love him to bits. (Although, bottom!Rodney is not my thing - too many badly written/thought out fics that make him out to be some kind of bottom boy/slut to make me too comfortable with the theme.) Still, have you read cesperanza's Written by the Victors (http://trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Victors.html)? While this story doesn't center solely on Rodney, and deals with the whole expedition and plot as well, some of the details provided background for a story in the same 'verse: You Must Remember This (http://community.livejournal.com/mckay_sheppard/1834864.html) by keefaq. You should definitely read it as soon as you're done with the original fic. Also, have you tried looking through the SGA Big Bang (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/) fics? lavvyan's "Theory of Evolution" deals with John not transforming back completely to human after 'Conversion' so might not be what you're after, though it's great; and "The Fey", well, I wouldn't rec that for you either... but you should check out the rest. I haven't read them all, otherwise I could be better in my reccing.

Oh, and two authors I found did great Rodney POV's and/or characterization (lots of Rodney!love *huggles*) are thegrrrl2002 (fics site here (http://www.geocities.com/thegrrrl2002)) and mmmchelle, especially when they get together. I think I read all of thegrrrl's fics, and loved every single one. Most are not terribly long, but still, Rodney!love !! *bounces and squishes fics*

Hehehe...I couldn't help but grin, myself...and giggle. Ahem. I'm most definitely going to check out all of your suggestions. Thank you so much, really. I think Rodney's the cuttest thing since that mogwia bunny thing on Ninja Warrior...um, yeah. Anywho. Again, thank you!

This is another fic by the wonderful lavvyan, called But Never the Nights (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=4627). It's a very long, beautifully written, Rodney-centric fic. Rodney is trapped alone on a recently culled planet in winter, and has to survive with virtually no hope of rescue. It's one of my favorites.

Thank you so much. :) I really do appreciate all of your help. I don't know why, but I'm just having the hardest time finding fic for SGA...well...good stuff. I'll get the hang of it, though. ;)
