Rodney hurts John

Hi, I'm looking for fics where Rodney says/does something that really hurts John's feelings; so many times, McKay's actions are just waved off, so I'd like to read some where Sheppard doesn't give him a pass on his behaviour.  No character-bashing, please.

ETA: Just to clarify, I meant that I've noticed we have a trend in fanfic to sort of handwave some of McKay's hurtful words/actions, even when they're unintentional on his part, as expected because of his personality. In real life, though, even our friends can hurt us, and I'd like some fic that explores what happens when something Rodney does/says actually hurts John. Sorry to be unclear earlier!

I'm not exactly following your thought here. Could you be more specific? Because no one ever let Mckay's questionable actions slide in canon. Not ever.

Not so much canon as it's a theme I've noticed in fic. I guess it's more of a "Well, we know McKay's kind of an ass, so even when he says hurtful things (even unintentionally), his friends won't make a big deal out of it" thing. I confess to liking this most of the time, but I'm in the mood for some fic where McKay really does manage to visibly hurt Sheppard's feelings and someone calls him on it. Sorry that was a little unclear in the post!

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but Message Drift by bluflamingo addresses Rodney drugging John in "Irresistible." So more canon-oriented than fanfic-oriented, but I think it gets at what you're looking for. (John/Cam-ish.)

And on rereading, I note that it's more John/Cam than John/Cam-ish, though they aren't in a relationship during the story. In case that matters.

And (of course) Indelible (http://archiveofourown.org/works/120496?view_full_work=true) by shaenie -- John's feelings are quite hurt when Rodney does everything he can to shut John out fairly early in the story, and he does call Rodney on it. In Sheppard's Law of Martyrdom (http://pir8fancier.nfshost.com/sga_law.html) by pir8fancier, John is hurt by things Rodney says: "John doesn't know why he's supposed to be asbestos all the time while Rodney is allowed to verbally scorch emotional earth like there's no tomorrow. But that's the way it's always been..."

The story is Jennifer/Rodney and John/Rodney and might be viewed as highly critical of the Jennifer-Rodney relationship and/or character-bashing toward Jennifer.

Hee, you're one of the people where quite regularly when I get to a genrefinders post I go "aha, I see comm member x and comm member y have already pointed out the stories I would have, so I don't need to." :)

And oops/apologies to the OP, I should have flagged that in my little list above, both pir8fancier and sabinelagrande's portrayals of Jennifer are not supersympathetic. I very much enjoy stories where she's portrayed as sensible and cool but didn't much like how she was written in canon, so except for some really bashy stories (not ones I listed), I don't think to flag stories that don't portray her all that well, sorry!

Oh, I enjoyed that portrayal of Keller; she really irritated me in canon, so I'm not super-sympathetic myself. ;) I feel like, as long as the fic isn't the author going, "Oh, I hate character x so much, let me put all the ways they're awful into a fic with no redeeming characteristics for x" it's all good.
