Are there any fairytale fusions that feature John as a prominent character? I read Unconventional Beauty by [livejournal.com profile] jane_elliot and was hoping there was more out there... slash preferred, thank you.

If you're looking for John-centric recs next time please don't forget to add the 'character related' and 'John Sheppard' tags, thanks!

On a non-modly note, I've collected a bunch of fairy tale related fic recs here (http://debris-k.livejournal.com/tag/sga%20fairy%20tale%20recs); there are small excerpts and descriptions so you should be able to suss out in which ones John plays a major role. :-)

John/Rodney pairing, with John!centric:

Fair (http://community.livejournal.com/undermistletoe/48389.html) by Minnow, PG-13, where we have cool fairytale dynamic and John is our John bun not quite.

Outfoxed (http://community.livejournal.com/mckay_sheppard/2522946.html) by [livejournal.com profile] almostnever, R, fusion with The Golden Bird fairytale.

The Vagabond Prince (http://community.livejournal.com/mckay_sheppard/2346159.html) by [livejournal.com profile] almostnever, PG, fusion with 'Donkeyskin' fairytale.

Le Beau et La BĂȘte (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4528260/1/Le_Beau_et_la_Bete) by Fenchurch, PG, and Beauty and the Beast (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2807028/1/Beauty_and_the_Beast) by The Lady of Shadows, PG-13, are both fusions with 'Beauty and the Beast', obviously :).

No Myth (http://pantstomatch.net/nomyth.htm) by scoosiepants, PG-13, where John is a prince, John's POV.

Fusion with The Little Mermaid (Disney) and the (warning: much less HEA-for-all) Hans Andersen fairytale: From the Depths (http://gaiaanarchy.livejournal.com/19703.html) by [livejournal.com profile] gaiaanarchy. McShep and other pairings, ~16,300 words

not quite a fairytale fusion but a Disney-movie (Lady and the Tramp) fusion, darkstyle, that prominently features John: The Wrong Side of the Tracks (http://gaiaanarchy.livejournal.com/28482.html), also by [livejournal.com profile] gaiaanarchy. McShep and other pairings, ~15,500 words

Non-Disney, but a fantastic Japanese fairytale/folktale fusion: Kuro to Ao (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/762821.html) by [livejournal.com profile] xparrot, McShep, ~8400 words, which got remixed in a really interesting (though much less fairy-tale-like) way in "M" Is for Monster (http://community.livejournal.com/raselghethi/26874.html) by [livejournal.com profile] seleneheart, ~12,200 words. (Kuro to Ao was done for the [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic fairy tale challenge (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/tag/challenge:%20fairy%20tale), which might have more you'd like.)

some great fairytale-fusion recs: http://fiordeligi.livejournal.com/3699.html

Only one of these is a fairy tale Disney's done, but [livejournal.com profile] almostnever has three different fairy tale fusions that you might enjoy.

The Frog Suitor (http://archiveofourown.org/works/74169)
Outfoxed (http://archiveofourown.org/works/155439)
The Vagabond Prince (http://archiveofourown.org/works/151239)

And in the time it took me to find them (and read one) several people linked to them already. Ooops. :)

That's often my problem too, I'll stay to reread a story and by the time I'm done rereading someone will have recced it already, or when I finish reading I'll forget to go back and rec it at the search post. Hee/oops. :)

Could you provide a link to the story you mentioned, Unconventional Beauty? You are linked to jane_elliot's LJ, so I thought it was there, but I don't see a tag for SGA.

It's here (http://jane-elliot.inkquill.com/fiction/unconventionalbeauty.html) on the author's site; links to the podfic and podbook are available here (http://jane-elliot.inkquill.com/#stargate).

I think nobody has recced The Bearskin Cloak by Horridporrid yet - John has a prominent role (though the POV is Ronon's and it's more Andersen than Disney, but) it's great :).

Hee -- not every, though possibly quite a few. Along with, quite frequently, some of the other people reccing things here. :)

Thank you! It was heavily influenced by the "Sapsorrow" episode of Jim Henson's The Storyteller, which was rereleased on DVD a few years ago and is pretty easy to find now; if you like fairy tales I recommend it, it's beautifully made.
