John meeting people from his past

Hi

I'm looking for fics where Sheppard meets people from his past who are surprised at how successful he has become.  Perhaps military ex-colleagues who are surprised he is a Lieutenant Colonel?  Or high school reunions fics where none expected John Sheppard to achieve anything, and he shows up successful?  Or someone recognising Sheppard after declassficiation?

Slash, gen or het is fine.  I'm not looking for total AUs where they have different jobs etc; either canon or something that could fit with canon would be best.

Maybe not quite you're looking for, but Sheppard bumps into a friend of his father's while with Rodney as his "mathematician" at a dinner party during their leave on Earth in Speranza's (cesperanza's) "Ordinary Life" (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/ordinarylife.html). McShep Pairing.


Another borderliner would be "The Bobby Newman Factor" (http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/fish_and_chips/TBNF.html) by clockstopper -- John & Rodney visit John's father while on leave, and meet up with the family & their son to whom John was always unfavorably compared, bringing revelations to both Sheppard men. I'm pretty sure that quasar273's "Paging Colonel Sheppard" (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/578991.html) probably qualifies in that it's Sheppard's father that wasn't expecting John to do so well after hearing of his black mark & being stationed in Antarctica.
