AUs where they eventually get to Atlantis

I'm looking for stories where for some reason the character or characters don't get to Atlantis the way they do in canon, but do eventually get there and feel like they're coming home.

Ones I've read already and liked are rheanna27's Hard Prayer, rageprufrock's Hindsight, Martha Wilson's Raiders of the Seven Systems, and sheafrotherdon's Farm in Iowa series.

I suspect most stories of this type will end up focusing on John because of his connection with Atlantis, but I'm open to stories focusing on any character (also any pairing). The main thing here is the bit about feeling like they're coming home.

(I looked through the first few pages of the AU tag but there are so many that I rather got overwhelmed.)
