This is going to be a bit of a 3-Parter on a theme. 

1) Flying Lessons -- I'd like to read some stories about flying lessons, whether in a puddlejumper, F-302, a chopper of some kind, whatever plane, glider, hot air balloon, or even the Daedalus.  If someone's learning to fly (or teaching someone to fly), I'd love to read it -- even if they're fics about taking some kind of qualification testing for flight, which would include sims, etc.  [Click this link to see which stories I've read on this theme.]

2) Getting John (or Lorne, or O'Neill, or Mitchell - the last two to be included as long as they're in Pegasus Galaxy - or other 'Zoomies') In The Air --  Basically, I'm looking for stories where they have their first flight in Pegasus Galaxy by means of aircraft / spacecraft.  First flights can include:  first flight ever in whichever aircraft (puddlejumper, newly made aircraft, newly arrived aircraft, F-302, Daedalus, other alien-crafted aircraft, native-to-Pegasus aircraft), first flight after a long-time grounded due to health issues or bureaucracy.  Alternatively, I'd be happy to read some stories on flying as a means to relax from times of stress.  Basically, I'm looking for gratuitous flying fics.... :)

3) Flying Earth-side -- Can be complete AU's or just Earth-side from leave, vacation, family emergency, retirement.  Preferably John, but if any of the other flyboys are available & it fits into the SGA fandom by way of crossover, that's fine, too. 

All gen, het, and slash pairings are welcome.  Please label where applicable.

I just remembered two other recs involving Lorne, Cadman and learning how to fly a jumper (both gen) which are:

I really love both of them, because they're both dead on character and depict the professional relationship and friendship of the two of them that I think is a trademark whenever I see a well-written story involving that pairing.

Another great one has Sheppard teaching a Marine Sergeant how to fly a jumper (gen, too): Only the Journey Matters (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=14549) by ga_unicorn. 

And I can't shake the feeling I know more stories dealing with this particular trope but right now can't drag them from my godlfish memory :S

A tangent on your request is the amazing Maybe It Was Memphis (http://princessofg.livejournal.com/tag/memphis%20series) by princessofg. Its a complete AU, 1950, Jack/Daniel. Jack is a Blue Angel. No connection to the series other than a few character references. One chapter is about Jack flying at an airshow and there were scenes with his flying buddies.

everybetty and I wrote “Long Ago (And Far Away)” (http://kristen999.livejournal.com/247944.html) which is a WW2 AU set in the Pacific. John's crew are part of a recon squad and there is TON of flying in it. We did our darnest to make those flights and air battles as realistic as possible.

Team fic. Gen. Does include some racism and sexism of the time and we did include both Ronon and Teyla in major roles.

For 1) I have Everything (http://somehowunbroken.livejournal.com/16050.html) (G) by somehowunbroken and its sequel Realization (http://somehowunbroken.livejournal.com/16822.html) (PG) are John/Cam and have Cam as the flight instructor and John as the student.

For 3) the first one that popped into my mind was Zorro's Legacy (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4153326/1/Zorros_Legacy) (T) by ShepsReyna (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1392830/ShepsReyna). The team are on Earth for a vacation and are taking a commercial jet, which happens to be flown by one of John's former instructors. There is peril.
