Hi!
I'm looking for Rodney-centric slash or gen fic. I'm looking for the kind of fics where Rodney is permanently injured (like blindness, physical injury etc.) or has a mental illness of some kind (like schizophrenia etc.) but I want fics where they (Rodney and loved ones) go on with their lives, either in Atlantis or on earth. Realistic, in that all injuries doesn't always heal like they should but life goes on, and with a happy (or at least content) ending.
Is there any stories like that out there?

Rebuilding Babel (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/610119.html) by [livejournal.com profile] fiercelydreamed - Rodney loses his ability to speak. He cannot process language at all: can't read, can't write, and he never gets that ability back, but there's hope in ancient technology that he will be able to communicate again. I really love all of [livejournal.com profile] fiercelydreamed's work, and this is just one of her many exceptionaly well-written stories.

Logoperia (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=13236&chapter=1&textsize=1) by [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan and Eloquence by [livejournal.com profile] taste_is_sweet - this link has the SERIES in the header and links to Eloquence from there.

Salt of the Earth (http://www.area52hkh.net/asd/dasha/saltof01.php) - Rodney is wounded, a seriously life threatening injury that puts him out of commission for a long time. The struggles he goes through, the physical therapy, finding his place on the team again. Golly. Just Really terrific storytelling there.

The Theory of Everything (http://rheanna27.livejournal.com/68371.html) - Rodney eventually does get better in this story, but the spiral he goes down to hit bottom is beautifully written, and it feels like there's no hope - until there is.

These have been recc'd over and over, but they're the ones I always turn to. Just excellent story telling in them. Hope that helps.

Just finished reading Nonlinear system by Berty over at Area 52 which I think fits the bill. Keep with it as it's an excellent story.

Maybe I'm Dead, I Just Haven't Stopped Moving Yet (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3148301/1/Maybe_Im_Dead_I_Just_Havent_Stopped_Moving_Yet) by cybersyd42... A serious leg injury puts Rodney out of commission. I could not put that story down once I started. Heavy on the angst, but not to the point where it would feel choking (I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to angst.) I don't want to spoil the ending, but it fits your requirements. :) Gen. Long! (120,000 words, but it's fast-paced and doesn't feel long.)

I also would've rec'd 'Rebuilding Babel', 'Salt of the Earth', and 'Theory of Everything'.
