Hey there,

Definitely not my first post here. I'm looking for fics where either John or Rodney, doesn't matter which one, either knows or finds out that the other one is interested. I especially would like a fic with a line something like this one from Lean on Me by Elayna:

"I could be so much more, if you ever wanted.  But you're straight, I know that.  I've always known that.  So I want to be your friend.  I know I can be a selfish man, but I can – I can live with friendship.  Okay?  Is that okay?"``

So something where one of them knows that the other one is sacrificing something by being friends with them, and then later becoming involved in a relationship, again like in Lean on Me. Happy ending is a must. McShep is obviously preferred, but really only because it`s the most popular slash pairing, so it`s more likely to have what I`m looking for. I`ll take any slash pairing from Atlantis.

Hmm. Well, Marginally Obtuse (http://pocky-slash.livejournal.com/1098904.html) has a John who is pretty darned clueless, while Rodney has liked him for some time. I think it's what you're asking for. Along very similar lines is Not a Love Song (http://community.livejournal.com/mcshep_match/18101.html).

In Unitled Late Night Epiphany (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsmooch/125562.html), it's Rodney who has to come to realize that their friendship is more than just friendship.

I'm pretty sure Gayworld (http://zelempa.livejournal.com/54541.html) has a scene very much like the one you mention, where one character thinks of the other 'but he's straight, so it would never work out'...

Of course we're not going to find that exact line, or maybe even that type of line, so I went with recs that have a similar vibe. Hope you enjoy them!
