Alrighty, I've looked around and I haven't found any other searches for these topics or at least no recent ones, so--

1. Can you rec me stories where Rodney goes on a mission with a different team or something similiar, things end up going wrong, and John and co. come to the rescue or even just meet up with him in the infirmary afterwards and vow that he is never to go offworld without them again? Bonus points if they are pissy towards the team that got Rodney hurt/lost/captured in the first place.

2. I've read a few AUs where John is a single parent and only one that I remember where Rodney is a single parent, so I was wondering if there were any others? That is, where Rodney is a single parent for some reason, widower, divorce, adopted, stole the kid, whatever.

3. Lastly, also looking for a different sort of kidfic, AUs where the characters, or at least John and Rodney or Radek and Rodney or Carson and Rodney (there's a pattern here...) are childhood friends. Have known each other since at least early high school/middle school, though elementary is preferred. Child Hijinks are loved--preferably not canon backstory so there's no pressure to line up with canon. Though if they end up on Atlantis anyway, I won't mind. Or where they grow up in the Pegasus galaxy.

Pairing-wise I'm open to pretty much anything except nearly anything involving Katie Brown and Keller/Rodney.

They're also very good. I have a soft spot for single father stories, having been raised by one and all. ;) I thought of one more:

PuddleJumper Estates and ZPM Enterprises by wingwrym has Rodney as a single father, but his daughter isn't a big part of the story.

For 'they've known each other all along' there's xparrot's Almost All Grown Up (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/30575.html), an AU in which all of the main characters are children growing up in Pegasus.

There's also The Price that Life Exacts (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=38) by cathalin: when John disappears, Rodney and the other 'Lanteans do everything they can think of to find him, and then some. And when they find Sheppard's infant daughter, Rodney forces himself to view her as nothing more than a living clue to John's location... at least at first. It's one of the best fics out there, in my honest opinion.

Then there's busaiiko's A Hundred Happy Things (http://busaikko.livejournal.com/94799.html?style=mine): when Rodney is kicked out of his chosen profession by Sam, TPTB figure one McKay is as good as another. Madison lands with Rodney, who freaks out then Gets Help in the form of Discover Your Inner Power!, taught by Teyla, and therapy by Dr. Dex. And then he meets Jona...

In On Life and Living (http://home.comcast.net/~wesleysgirl/fanfiction/sga/life.html), Elizabeth is survived by her husband, John, and her daughter, Kayla. When the pair go to the science museum and Kayla gets lost, they run into Rodney. Sweet and lovely.

Weddings, Plural, and a Yak, (http://trickster.org/speranza/cesper/weddingsplural.html) has Rodney adopting a random native child - again, this is one of the really cool ones. I adore this story.

I have a weakness where Pegasus cultures are involved, and Come and Join the Dance (http://mirabile-dictu.slashcity.net/SGA/Dance.html) is no exception. Rodney takes responsibility for a baby orphaned by the Wraith; however this is eventually het. :)

In Teenage Kicks (http://www.goldenmaze.com/teenagekicks.htm), an adult Rodney awakens in his teenaged body back on earth in 1984. Surrounded by mini-Jeannie, and the crack in the bathroom tile, and his demanding mother, it's hard not to revert a little. Then R sees a familiar face... Rodney sort of gets the opportunity to 'grow up' with John a little.
