Hey all;)

Does anyone know of any fics where Rodney is taken or sort after - by the Wraith/Genii or any other off worlders - for his genius. Preferably featuring possessive!John or *deep breath* stop-at-nothing-to-get-his-team-mate-back!John. McShep is a super-shiny bonus, but I don't mind Gen.

Thank you.

Forgive me for not picking tags - I never know which ones to choose.

Dead or Alive by Grey Lupus

Summary: When McKay's abducted right under the team's nose, it's up to Sheppard to save him before it's too late.

Nice and Long and a really good John too . . .

How about Permutationality (http://sardonicsmiley.livejournal.com/62850.html) by [livejournal.com profile] sardonicsmiley? I'm not sure Rodney is exactly captured for his genius but his captor (trying not to spoil story) realizes his value and keeps him because of it. It's McShep, and John is definitely very intent upon getting Rodney back.

And, the absolute gold standard for this theme is Exigencies (http://rivier.livejournal.com/267985.html) by [livejournal.com profile] rivier. Rodney's genius being the reason for his captivity is not a major theme (but it's there) and it's the ultimate John-stops-at-nothing-to-get-Rodney-back fic.

Have fun!

Oh, what the heck. I'll pimp myself. *g*

I wrote a story that I think fits this bill. Finding the Way Home (http://sp23.livejournal.com/260551.html).

Summary: While on a mission with another team, Rodney is kidnapped by an old enemy leaving John in a desperate scramble to find him before it's too late.

It's McShep, NC-17.

Actually, another that might appeal is [livejournal.com profile] sardonicsmiley's Five People John Sheppard Didn't Kill on P11-23R (http://sardonicsmiley.livejournal.com/33676.html). The captors want Rodney for his artificial ATA gene in this one, not his genius (I guess because his gene is () artificial, and they want to find out how to make their own) but desperate!John is great.

I think 'The Settling of Scores' fits the bill. It's a WIP though.

Benched (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Benched.html) by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza Somewhat fits the bill.

Summary: Rodney get captured for his ATA gene and John isn't allowed to help.

Hmm. Well, you could always go to my capture tag (http://delicious.com/Kirinin/capture) on del.icio.us...

But to narrow it down:

1) I second Permutationality. It's scary and weird and awesome.
2) Certain People Got a God Complex (http://dejabu.robot-army.org/sgagodcomplex.html): in chase of a ZPM, the Team encounters: homophobic lumberjacks, Eternia, crazy!Ford, and Jesus. Needless to say, this is crack!fic, but it's good crackfic, and capture fic and McShep besides.
3) Seat of Talents (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/21610.html), in which a trading situation turns into more of a hostage situation, and John is fiercely protective. Most of friendshipper's stuff can be viewed as preslash-ish or strong J/R friendship.
4) Both John and Rodney are captured in Children's Classics (http://community.livejournal.com/mckay_sheppard/2212654.html#cutid1), which is, I think, one of the more underappreciated pieces of awesomeness in the fandom. Features musical!Rodney. I have to admit that it doesn't quite fit your request as well as the others, both because it is not only Rodney who is captured; and also because we have no earthly idea why the aliens wanted Rodney. You get the impression there was no particular purpose here. Still, I cannot resist the rec, though I try. It's just that good.
5) Then there's Taken (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsmooch/21713.html) by sheafrotherdon. You get the impression that the evil aliens wanted *information* from McKay, but it's hard to tell what when he's drugged to the gills. Short; creepy, then sweet.
6) Hard to believe no-one's yet mentioned Charting the Motion of Planets (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsmooch/21713.html), in which Rodney realizes he will tell the Genii whatever it is they want to hear... with disastrous consequences.
7) I have to admit to not recalling the plot of Red Flowers (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_santa/126322.html?style=mine) as well as I'd like; but here's my description: SGA's answer to Ferengi who trade for anything, with anyone, no matter the price. Rodney is captured of course, and negotiated with/for; and Rodney hands back more than was bargained for. McShep.
8) Scheherezade (http://in-wintertime.livejournal.com/3985.html) is a pretty exact match for your request: aliens capture Rodney for a very particular purpose that has to do with who he is, fundamentally. This is another one of my favorites; I've read bits of it many times over.

...and... that's it for now! Nine recs, whaddaya know? ;)
