Coda/AU for The Storm : John's "negotiating" skills?

Are there any codas to The Storm/Eye where John feels guilty or is taken to task for the way he and Ford threatened the Manarians into providing shelter to the expedition, or AUs where the negotiations are handled by others and the Genii are not contacted? It doesn't have to be the focus of the fic, as long as it is explicitly referred to.
