Rodney and the shield

Yeah, me again. :)

In Hide and Seek Rodney tries this personal shield and get stuck with it, because he can't take it off. Is it just me or do they (minus Rodney) take the news that he can't eat or drink in this thing pretty lightly? I mean, Rodney's supposed to be hypoglycemic and Carson just tells them that humans can live for several days without food and water... And I don't see how Elizabeth can be so sure that it'll simply switch off when he's not scared anymore...

So, could somebody rec me some fics that deal with Rodney and the shield in that episode in a different way? Where it doesn't simply fall off or they take it more seriously?

Are there any epic John/Evan fics out there? Specifically with them dealing with having kids, either through mpreg, Ancient tech, or whatever else is out there.
