I'm having a rough day today and would like to immerse myself in something to prevent myself from thinking. And what better way than to read humorous stories? I prefer McShep but gen is good too. I just need funny, sweet stories. Can you guys help?

Edit You guys rock! Thanks!

The Ninja Logs (http://of-evangeline.livejournal.com/397869.html) is short and funny. You may have already read it; it has a couple pages of comments. It's gen with a hint of McShep. I'm not sure it qualifies as 'sweet', but I still reccommend it.

Here are a couple of fics by [profile] helena_eternal A Life Less Ordinary (http://teh-helenables.livejournal.com/2154.html#cutid1) & Okay, Let's Try This Again (http://teh-helenables.livejournal.com/33872.html#cutid1).

Both are pretty funny but my personal favorite is Okay, Let's Try This Again. Hope you enjoy them too. Oh, they are both McShep.

A Gift of Pebbles (http://wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=684&textsize=0&chapter=2) by Leah.

This one cracks me up every single time.

I definitely recommend "844,739 Ways to Eat a Hamburger" by minervacat.

Whilst not McShep, it is one of the most hilarious fics I have read: Earth on a Shoestring by friendshipper (Remix of $173.23) http://community.livejournal.com/gateverse_remix/2463.html

Not exactly a fic in the traditional sense of the word, but as far as mysterious voices interviewing McKay and Sheppered go, this is the funniest (not to mention only...) one I've read: http://greyias.livejournal.com/36027.html#cutid1

Not a fic, but rather a set of limericks, but hopefully they'll bring a smile to your face anyway: Stories of Murder and Woe, by rhymer23 http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/664548.html?page=2#comments

All my favorites are McShep by default. I have a one-track OTP.

I just discovered it recently, but scheming Marines never fail to make me giggle and snort:

http://crimsonclad.livejournal.com/tag/mission+accomplished!

(Tag goes to an index of all the Marines to the Rescue! ficlets, which should be read starting with #1 -- they're standalone stories, but I read the most recent one without knowing the premise, and could not for the life of me figure out why the Marines were bombarding John with talk about menstruation.)

Other favorites, many of which are probably terribly obvious:

The Labeling Approach
http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/640606.html

Zelenka picked up a yellow-tagged ruler from his desk. "This is 'straight'. Says so, right here." He waved it, grinning. "I had not noticed."

Life Lessons Learned from Aliens
http://dejabu.robot-army.org/sgalifelessons.html

An ancient device makes everyone see Teyla as what they most desire. John and Rodney see... well, duh. Ronon sees a box of pancake mix (hee!). With a nice side of Teyla/?.

Eight Ways Not to Write a Fanfic
http://dejabu.robot-army.org/sgalifelessons.html

What the title says. But it kind of spoils its fanfiction.net-esque persona by being much too well written and getting the minor characterizations spot on.

It's Complicated
http://zelempa.livejournal.com/38499.html

"Obviously it's been hacked!" Rodney shouted, struggling to unwrap John's clawlike hold from his shoulder. "Did you get a confirmation request? I think not! Look, look, do you think for 'favorite music' I would put the single word 'AVRIL'? Come on, now."

Someone just recced "Five Ways John Sheppard Acts Like a Fourteen Year Old Girl", like, two days ago. The notes, oh god, the notes!

http://ras-fic.livejournal.com/986.html

More under my delicious sga+fic+humor tag, if you're so inclined. I am liberal with the use of the humor tag.

Sigh... apparently I'm an html idiot, but I can't figure out why the mission accomplished! tag isn't working or how to fix it.. Just chop off the "tag/mission+accomplished!" part -- the most recent public post in crimsonclad's journal is the most recent Marines to the Rescue story. Sorry about that.

ETA: This link (http://crimsonclad.livejournal.com/tag/mission+accomplished!) should work. (fingers crossed)

I just realized I copied the same link twice instead of linking properly to cupidsbow's piece! *headdesk*

Here's the proper link for Eight Ways:

The Kirk Factor (http://community.livejournal.com/nixa_jane/12532.html#cutid1). "Oh my god!" Rodney shouted. "You're hitting on me! Do you have no shame? Can't you go five minutes--?" (McKay cuts Shep off of alien sex with a few rules and tries to have an intervention)

He's Having Her Baby! (http://glitterati.talkoncorners.net/fiction/hhhb!.html). "I'm not pregnant!" John yelled. "Please, Major, temper tantrums can't be good for the baby," Carson managed, before he covered his face, shoulders shaking. (Rodney thinks John is pregnant while John tries to set him straight.)

CheckList (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/266247.html). Then, "Oh wait--let me guess, you didn't see this coming." (Sheppard never sees it coming, even after McKay gives him a list to look out for)

Flirt (http://community.livejournal.com/yinfic/4257.html#cutid1). "God, that's hot," Rodney said, gaping. "You won the genetics sweepstakes, didn't you? Gorgeous and a natural gene carrier. They probably broke the damn mold." (Flirty!Rodney and Shy!John)

Missionary Position (http://trinityofone.livejournal.com/60584.html). Rodney convinces the Wraith to use the retro-virus by describing how great sex is. Ronon agrees. McShep.

Working Double Time On The Seduction Line (http://minervacat.livejournal.com/928249.html#cutid1). "Can I go now?" Rodney said. "Colonel Sheppard made it very clear that I was to have nothing to do with his rescue. Like he has any virtue left for me to trade away."

Pudding, And Other Rare Commodities (http://pantstomatch.net/pudding.htm). "Wait. Wait, are you honestly trying to trade sexual favors for my Snack Pack?"

StitchNBitch (http://glitterati.talkoncorners.net/fiction/435.html). They stitch. They bitch. And Rodney steals a scarf.

Try These

I love skooskispants for a good laugh. Her site is at

http://pantstomatch.net/sgastories.html

Try Once upon a Furry Octopus and it's sequels or Attack of the Giant Robot From Outerspace '(John wants to hug it, and possibly use his tongue in inappropriate ways. (Sept 2006, John/Rodney, robot)'.

She writes so well I even tried her HP and band slash (both genres which I don't much care for)and I enjoyed them.
