Due to depressing real life I really need comfort stories.

There shouldn't be much angst or hurt (and absolutely no character death!), and there should be a happy ending. Basically those stories that leave you warm and content and glowy and happy.

Any pairing or no pairing, any length, genre, topic...

Every Day in Every Day (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=8) by velocitygrass, in which Rodney proposes "an arragement" to John, and John's just desperate willing enough to take it. The thing, it progresses - lots of yummy NC17 parts. ;-)

Or something. Lovely, romantic, a bit angsty, first-time-ish.

Si Muovo (http://sihayab.livejournal.com/7589.html) by sihayab and kassrachel, AU in which Rodney is a priest banished sent to Alaska, and John is a pilot who just happens to become his best friend, er, yeah, *cough*. ...Rated NC17 first time slash? *whistles innocently*

Also, anything (http://www.yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/cat_stargate.html) written by julad, but especially her three long stories, two of which are Rodney/Radek and one is McShep - they're all excellent in their own right, there's really no comparing them or deciding which one is better than the others.

Here's a few bunch of the stories I always drift back to when I'm in a surly sort of mood. ETA: Wow, this list really got away from me.

Weapons of Some Distraction (http://shrift.livejournal.com/144919.html), by shrift. McShep, Set during "The Return". The boys adjust to Earth in some *interesting* ways. Mail-order catapults might be involved.

The Checkmate 'Verse (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?keyword=SGA+AU%3A+Checkmate+%27Verse&user=beadattitude&sortby=des), by beadattitude. McShep. John gets turned into a cat, for a month. The whole series is amazing and never fails to make me smile.

Close Only Counts In Horseshoes and Hand Grenades (http://smittywing.livejournal.com/277143.html), by smittywing. McShep. John and Rodney keep having sex, but it's okay, because it doesn't count. I love the sheer variety of reasons the boys come up with for why the sex doesn't count, and the ending slays me.

Foretold (http://thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com/134509.html?view=5347693#t5347693), by thegrrrl2002. McShep. Set around 4x08, "The Seer". I love how *happy* the boys are in this one, by the end. Melts me into a little puddle.

And, because I am a total sucker for an AU:

A Farm In Iowa (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/80587.html), by sheafrotherdon. AU, McShep. I can't rec this story highly enough. It's just completely the best thing since-- okay. My favorite food, due to memories from childhood, is turkey and mashed potatoes. The Iowa 'verse is, to me, turkey and mashed potatoes in fic form. There is no bad here.

How To Have A Relationship Without Even Trying (http://ladycat777.livejournal.com/836658.html), by ladycat777. McShep, college AU. John and Rodney are roommates, and Rodney is kind clueless.

Love Among The Inanimate (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/686688.html), by liketheriverrun. McShep, AU. In which John is the plug on a lamp and Rodney is a surge protector. Crack, but AMAZING crack.

The Convenient Husband (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/156116.html), by mz_bstone. McShep, NC-17 bits, AU. John has to marry somebody in order to collect his inheritance. Rodney was his best friend in childhood, whom he's just met up with again after fifteen years. Do you see where this is going?

The Dark Side (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/The%20Dark%20Side.html), by astolat. McShep, AU, NC-17. Star Wars fusion, with Rodney as a Jedi and John as a Sith Lord. GAH.

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (2010) (http://sardonicsmiley.livejournal.com/46746.html), by sardonicsmiley. McShep, AU, NC-17. John's a figure-skater and Rodney is the captain of Canada's hockey team; they meet at the Olympics. I adore this fic to tiny little pieces.

I just (like five minutes ago) read it. It's a beautiful gen fic about faith, friendship, family and kindness. The end isn't "and everyone lived happily ever after" but it's hopeful and lovely.

stop's A Complexity of Forms (http://stop.livejournal.com/12394.html) is one of the stories I always go back to as a before-bed warm fuzzies story.

Euler's Jewel (http://www.ravenswing.com/~bas/slash/euler.html) by basingstoke always makes me giggle, and is quite short (relatively speaking).

runpunkrun gives good snuggly sweetness. For non-porn, my favourites would probably be The Slave Trade (http://home.teleport.com/~punkm/slave.html) and Equinox (http://home.teleport.com/~punkm/equinox.html). For porn, well, there's a lot of awesome to choose from, but I am ridiculously fond of A Short History of Dog Tags (http://home.teleport.com/~punkm/short.html), even though she lists that one as an R rating and not NC-17.

Explicit McShep:

The Slow Braille of Touch (http://beadattitude.livejournal.com/174585.html) by beadattitude, another one I always like to reread before bed for comfort-making.

aesc, sheafrotherdon, and dogeared apparently all worked together to write Mail Myself to You (http://aesc.livejournal.com/285128.html). It's cute and funny and does not read like something written by more than one person, which impresses the hell out of me.

Last Will and Testament (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Testament.html) by cesperanza, although honestly I'm tempted to just say "Anything by Sperenza." Or Shalott. They both make me very, very happy. But this one especially makes me giggle and plus has lots of hot sex and the right sort of dirtywrong, to make me snicker instead of cringing.

Also, I would recommend sardonicsmiley's Vancouver, BC, but someone already beat me to it. Because it owns.

For the most part these are shortish recs; if you want something a bit more epic length, then seriously, anything by astolat. Her site's here (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/) and, well, if you decide you need a break from SGA and are at all familiar with Master & Commander, I cannot recommend her AUs highly enough. Awesome and fantastic, all of 'em.

ZOMG, if you've loved that one, you'll *adore* "The Secret Life of Scientists". At very beginning is my fave scene of all times - the comic delivery is *perfect*. I think I gush about it just about every time I remember it. ;-)
