[identity profile] tinastarline.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Although I highly enjoy many of the McShep stories that are being posted, I'm having trouble finding long McShep fics. I was hoping ya'll can help me. I'm not particularly picky about what the stories is about, just that it is long.

I'd apperciate any help ya'll can send my way.

Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks guys! There's now much for me to short through and read.

Did you read last years SGABigBang (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fiction) fics?

[livejournal.com profile] xanthelj writes very long & wonderfully satisfying stories - mainly McKay/Sheppard but a few Beckett/McKay & Beckett/McKay/Sheppard.
She always give very full notes & content warnings so check them out to see if the stories will be your kind of thing.
Her fic lj is here (http://xanthestories.livejournal.com/) & her website is here (http://www.xanthe.org/).

Not sure how long you want, but hope some of these work.

For romance:

Cleave (http://www.unrealwords.com/thestuff/sga/cleave.html) and Scenes from a Lesser War (http://www.unrealwords.com/thestuff/sga/scenes.html) by [livejournal.com profile] amireal. The former is a great twist on the allergy theme, and the latter is a DADT fic which particularly stands out. NC-17 for both.

For awkward, painful romance:

Your Inevitable Unhappy Ending (http://www.helenish.net/inevitable.shtml) (which, FYI, does actually have a happy ending) and everything else (http://www.helenish.net/stories.html) by [livejournal.com profile] helenish. NC-17.

For hilarity:

Little House on the Mainland (http://dejabu.robot-army.org/lhotm.html), The Modern Man's Hustle (http://dejabu.robot-army.org/sgahustle.html), There's No Such Thing As Daniel Jackson (http://dejabu.robot-army.org/sgajackson.html), and everything else (http://dejabu.robot-army.org/space.html) by [livejournal.com profile] eleveninches. All McKay/Sheppard, with some side pairings. Mostly PG-13 or R-ish.

where eagles dare... we will be playing poker a hundred miles in the opposite direction (http://01100100.fanfib.org/fanfiction/sga/eagles.html) by [livejournal.com profile] 01100100. SG-1 comes to visit, and are totally annoyingly better at everything than Team Sheppard. PG-13-ish.

For creepiness:

I Am Your Image Dressed as the World (http://mirabile-dictu.livejournal.com/66173.html) by [livejournal.com profile] mirabile_dictu. Now with classic science fiction flavour.

The Ratio of Burning (http://stillane.killerstar.net/stories/ratio.html) by [livejournal.com profile] stillane.

Visiting Hours (http://www.improvidence.net/visiting_hours.html) by [livejournal.com profile] lilysaid. Romance in shades of Stockholm Syndrome.

And somebody's mentioned [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza and Written by the Victors (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Victors.html), right? Right.

There's four pages of recs here http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/265177.html?page=1#comments and most of what I saw were in the over ten page range. There's vids and artwork scattered everywhere, but stuff's clearly labeled.

Epic Recs primarily recs stories that are 200 KB (40,000 words) or more and has around forty SGA recs:

And, what the hell -- The shortest SGA fic I've ever written is 110 KB (18,000 words) and most are much longer: http://jane-elliot.inkquill.com/index.html

I totally agree (in fact, I write what I read, which is why my stories keep getting longer and longer and...)

SGA has different standards for length than what I've seen, having come from The Sentinel and Due South fandoms (now *they* know what a long story is:) I saw a previous comment that implied that ten pages was a long fic, and I just had to shake my head.

Good luck in your search!

Sounds tempting (was it Harry/Snape?)

You really should check out Epic Recs -- more than half of the stories recced are over 40,000 words and the vast majority are over 10,000 words. Plus you have summaries of the stories and full reviews.

I read both, but primarily H/S. One of my co-reccers has H/D covered:)

There's In The City of Seven Walls (http://www.eternalvox.net/%7Eauburn/citysevenwalls.html) by Auburn. It's full novel length and complete.

Then, if you mind self-pimping or a WIP, Out Of Bounds (http://www.icarus.slashcity.net/stories/outofbounds.html) is novel-length. It's 120,000 words and will likely be 150K words when its done, which Microsoft Word tells me is over 300 pages.

*g* Have fun. You're not the only one who loves longfic.
