Hmm, so I've got a rather vague/broad type of story I'm looking for...

I'd like stories with Sheppard on earth (I'm open as far as any other sga/sg-1 characters that might be involved). But not just any stories on earth - I'd like stories that deal with him (or even soldiers under his command, and him getting involved) interacting with people outside the Stargate program. Specifically, I'd prefer stories that somehow involve the fact that he's a soldier and/or the fact that he's in the Stargate program.

Could be kidnapped by the Trust, difficulty with the police over the super-classified status of what he does, random people expressing their gratitude to him for being willing to serve as a soldier, random people taking out their disapproval of soldiers in general or the war in Iraq on him, odd behavior/habits ingrained from his time in Pegasus that get strange reactions on earth... lots of possibilities, and I'm flexible in what I'd like to see.

Just a few things I don't want: please no slash ('less it's preslash and/or easily read as gen), rather not have major AU/deathfic/post-series, and rather it wasn't pre-series (though if you've got a good one on the subject set in the US, rather than overseas, I'd be open).
