Gosh I hope this is the right place to ask this. I accidentally went to the wrong place once and damn did I get some pompous comments.

I'm looking for McShep stories where John and Rodney are enemies/working for opposite sides/hate each other's guts etc. Thank you.

Let me guess... You went to sgaficfinders? I got the same response. Seriously... We need two comms for what due south AND supernatural does with just one???

Actually, if you both checked the volume of posts [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders works with (and this comm hasn't been slacking off either this year, I'm happy to say) you'll have noticed that the turnover is not an insignificant one. Because of the number of new posts it's hard to keep up with previous searches, and lagging down either comm with yet more posts of a different topic altogether would not help the original goals at all, which are to provide every individual post the maximum attention each respective comm can provide.

Thus, these two comms are quite happy being exclusive in their content. For everything else, there's [livejournal.com profile] the_rec_room, as well as similarly themed comms and websites which are linked on this comm's main page.

(Also, I'm not familiar with the Supernatural fandom, but dS is definitely not a high volume one these days, at least search-wise. And yet, from this year, it also has two search comms - one for individual stories, and one for rec requests. Funny how that happens, when you're trying to keep order in a fandom.)

If either of you thought the warning comments you got over at [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders were perhaps rude, well, the mods there have very strict rules, and most of the folks who have encountered their quick-draw delete fingers have learned the hard way that a friendly warning - which gives you a chance to correct your mistakes on your own, BTW - goes a long way to making you feel less bad about breaking the comm's rules in the first place, than getting your post deleted by a mod for the offense. (Which means, the warnings were trying to *save you* from the wrath of the mods, not trying to offend you.)

In short, we're a happy, friendly bunch - as long as you read the rules, which are fairly simple and can be found in the comm's profile, and play by them.

So, [livejournal.com profile] midnight_elf, to answer your (rhetorical it might be) question: the current setup of the comms has been facilitated by their growth with time. Evolution at work and all that. Which means that for the sake of further growth and diversity, different comms that serve different purposes have proved to be necessary.

And [livejournal.com profile] schizojuc, your post is welcome here, as it follows comm rules. This applies to all posts, all comms - rules are rules, and they're there to make life (or searches, as the case may be) for everyone involved easier. And in this fandom, there's usually a whole heck of a lot of everyones around. :-)

One McShep fic in which Rodney and John don't exactly play the same side of the fence: Absolute Corruption (http://community.livejournal.com/mckay_sheppard/1043974.html) by [livejournal.com profile] seikaitsukimizu (has sequel Absolute Corruption - Terra Atlantis (http://seikaitsukimizu.livejournal.com/145392.html)), an AU for the SG-1 episode "Absolute Power", in which evil!Daniel rules Earth; here, Rodney is his chief scientist who gets awarded John as a "pet".

I like this story a lot. It's a Star Wars AU and Rodney and John hate each other (in a really hot way).

Which reminds me of the other SGA/Star Wars fusion: The Dark Side (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/390434.html) by [livejournal.com profile] astolat, McShep, Rodney is a Jedi, John is a Sith, the OTP is inevitable. And the crack. ^.^

There's actually another of these fusions of the similar theme, which would fit your request... darn, I hope someone has found it already, otherwise I'll have to hunt down the Star Wars crossovers/fusions post...

This is a WIP and maybe isn't what you are looking for. John is a buisness man out to destroy Rodney's family and Rodney agrees to marry John to save them. It's very harlequinish (written for the challenge I think) but is a good read. It's called Loves Tangled Web http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=10288&warning=12

There is also Marriage of Inconvienience but it has some non-con

Found it! It's actually For Better or For Worse (http://soraya2004.livejournal.com/20088.html) by [livejournal.com profile] soraya2004, the sequel to Ascension (http://soraya2004.livejournal.com/19402.html)).
