Breaking Down the Wall
Feb. 6th, 2008 05:07 pmWriting fictional stories about real-life actors kind of scares me, so I was surprised to find myself completely falling in love with 'And Be One Traveler', a story where David Hewlett accidentally falls into the Atlantis universe and meets his character. I also loved 'the Long Journey Home', where Rodney is simultaneously the author of SG-1 and SGA and a character in it. So what I'm looking for is any stories in which the fourth wall - you know, the one that separates fantasy from reality - is broken, breached, or even cracked a little. Verisimilitude and angst is really good, but so is tongue-in-cheek humour. Splash in a little of both and you have my undying gratitude.
Also, yes, posting lots of searches, but also - fun, to see what people come up with. Any takers?

Anyways, I recced When Realities Collide (http://www.visionsofprettyboys.com/Atlantis/WhenRealitiesCollide.htm) by Lady Ra there, which is the only fic I can think of to rec now as well.

Date: 2008-02-07 04:27 am (UTC)To clarify, I'm not solely looking for fics where RL actors are involved - just anything that potentially exposes Atlantis or the SGC
as (maybe) fantasy... or even an AU where we become unsure which is real, it or Atlantis.
...RPF gives me a weird feeling, like I'm crossing some kind of politeness boundary by discussing the actors themselves... but strangely enough, I didn't get that feeling from 'Be One Traveler'. Maybe because the author wrote D.H. as a character, giving him traits easily distinguishable from Rodney's - I saw him as a character, not a real-life person.
